New Year Eve

New Year Eve... The very last day of 2008, very warm welcome 2009... Wishes all a great year ahead.. I had a very happy and sad year.. Estella came into my life, and luck keeps shunning me at work.. Nonetheless, I had learnt to cope with adversities and carry on to live my life.. I really hope my new family life can turn for the better.. No more myopic quarrels over little financial issues.. Hmm.. money has always been a root for all evils.. Statistic of divorces resulting from disagreements in finance are growing every single day.. We need to keep this in check... and be real careful on this..

I will try my very best to be a good husband, daddy and pay more attention to my family emotional needs in 2009..

Fireworks... This is the 1st attempt of a novice, or should I say beginner, to capture beautiful fireworks in photos for memories.. I went with my "brother" and his photography kakis to an isolated stairway in Marina Square.. I cant believe that we went to "chop" a place at 7pm when the fireworks are due to fire off at midnight.. Gosh.. I did it.. but the rewards were sweet... I managed to capture three decent fireworks.. Now, I understand why so many people appreciate fireworks photos so much.. Its damn hard to take... First, you have to pre-set the camera settings and set it to Manual mode before firing.. then, you need to anticipate the firing of the fireworks to capture a nice shot not cluttered with too much lights and too many design, overexposing it will spoil the effects.. I took more than 30 shots to get 3 decent ones.. thats the statistics you are looking at..

Oh yar, while waiting for the final moments (the fireworks), I took the Mandarin Oriental Fountain, seems like I've got the "feel" for fountain to capture the effects with such consistency .. hahah.. how would you compare this one to the one I took at Marina Barrage..

Marina Barrage

My first night shot of our concrete jungle from our latest Singapore pride.. Marina Barrage..

Built across the mouth of the Marina Channel, the Marina Barrage creates Singapore’s 15th reservoir, and the first in the heart of the city.

The Marina Barrage was two decades old vision of Singapore then Prime Minster Lee Kuan Yew when he envisaged damming the mouth of the Marina Channel to create a freshwater reservoir. Another movement to make ourselves self-sufficient.. This vision also create another beautiful platform to watch our skylines at bay..

Guess i had probably bore my wife during this photo taking session and more to come.. While I was engrossed figuring out the best settings for my takes, she selflessly waited for me and pass me water to hydrate. Lucky and fortunate.. Although my wife is quite quick tempered, she just enjoy accompanying me doing my stuff patiently.. I can only reward her with kisses and beautifully taken photos (Beautiful to all seasoned photographer I hope) to freeze beautiful moments together..i toyed the setting with Aperture Priority at Shutter 10 - 20 Secs, f-stops from F17 to F29 and ISO 400 - 1200.. The frustrating thing is there is a lot of people disrupting my session, resulting in "ghost" figures in some of the pics.. See more in Multiply..

Feeling Sick... But still went shopping to make my hobby even more expensive

Haizee... Woke up early this morning for a run with my colleagues from West Coast Park, MacDonalds' to Harbour Front via Kent Ridge Park and Mount Faber... Weather was not on my side, after about 2 km, my face, body and more was moisted by the drizzle.. It is not long after, my shirt and short were drenched by the persistent drizzle... There more to it, after reaching Kent Ridge Park, the blister on my left foot starts to complain about the distance I am covering.. Haize... The pain got worse as I draw nearer and nearer to my destination, Harbour Front.. Finally, I gave up jogging while climbing up the long and upwards slope of Mount Faber and walk to the Hawker Center across Harbour Front, where I downed 3 cans of 100plus..... The luck does not end here, I immediately felt sick after my warm bath, and the feeling of weak did not go away even after catching an hour nap.. I am sick..

Late the in evening, although i still dont feel any better, I still went to Peninsula Plaza with my loving wife to add a Camera bag (Kata 3N1-10 Sling backpack) and Jumbo blower to the ever increasing list of my hobby.. Hee.. She bought the bag as a present for my 30th Birthday (Oh no... Hitting the threes liao). Thank you my Dear.. Oh yar.. by the way, IF means Internal Focus..

My First DSLR Photos

Finally, my very first shots using D80.. not very satisfied with my end product but I am determined to master basics of photography... I went to Suntec to join my wife who was having her uni gathering with 3 other frienz.. I slipped away in the middle of the dinner at Fei Chui La Mian to the floating platform where I took my very first photos... Signature Skyscapers of Singapore... Shenton Way.. The white balls floating on the water are well-wishes from gracious people welcoming Christmas and New Year 2009... This particular ball grab my attention.. "have a blastful 2009, Cheerios to all". This photo represents the hope and strong will to rebound from the economic "Technical" recession in 2009.. Blasting our way out of the gloomy times in midst of the uncertainty in the world

I had managed to get a few portraits of my Wife's frienz... Unfortunately, I was not able to capture a optimal photo of my beautiful wife.. Must be the best before I share.. I felt that the photo wasn't that bad for a first timer like me (hahah.. self consolation).. The bokeh was there although the multiple coloured background has made the focal point on her friend less obvious.. But candid shot captured her smile naturally....

My eBay Shop

I took a peep at my eBay shop where I had tried to sell baby products.. Actually, they were the "extra"stuff that i had received from my Estella's baby shower.. But the response does not seems very encouraging.. The fact that I had relisted both the items suggest that baby products in eBay Singapore is afterall not so popular..

Boxing Day

On leave.... For a very long time, I have not enjoyed extended leave for more than 3 days and wake up at 11am.. Yawnzz.... recharged.. First things that came to my mind is to hop on the net to learn the ropes of my new hobby... Hope to drop a few good pics soon...

Just blog about the my expensive intention of a SLR, here today, I had just bought myself a used D80 body from my "Brother" and a used D80 kit lens AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-E with this guy by the nick lastboltnut in CS.. Parenthood

"Blogs.s.s..!! Crazy, why spend so much time typing your private matters and share with everyone online..." My very first words I've said to my wife when this idea was first mooted.. This blog was started by my lovely wife, Fengyan (Hongean to those whom she is known for) for the both of us to share with all, on our happy and sad moments since matrimony.... Somehow, my negativity about blogs has started to distant miles every day since the day my beautiful daughter came into our marriage lives.

The sound of cries, smiles on her face just make my day although taking care of her is both mentally and physically challenging most of the times.... However said, I just feel like announcing to the whole world how elated and proud a father I am every other day.. This also led to much thought of, purchasing a SLR, capturing every single beautiful moments in her growing up stage.. Perhaps, i was also clouded by my long-time friend, brother which I could proudly proclaim, on taking up an expensive hobby, Photography..

Hopefully, I can armed myself with one soon and add wonderful and beautifully taken photos to a whole lot of meaningful archives in Multiply..
Come and take a look at my Multiply
